I'd say the fortunes of VS and CP...Excellent.

I'd say the fortunes of VS and CPIM took a U-Turn in the last 6 months, starting from Pillai. Congress desperately needs this whack for projecting that crook as a martyr and engaging in pathetic drama-acts on tv. It was genuinely irritating and shocking to see how INC was rallying behind a criminal sentenced by Supreme Court! This started the slippery slide down for UDF. Those at power in New Delhi were not exactly helping their cause either.

The fact that VS was excemplary in the first and last 6 months of his tenure, which the voting public remember most, turned advantageous to him. There was a theory that by the start of 4th year the public would actually have decided who they're going to vote for in the coming year but this is a glorious political exception and an example. The last minute drama involving VS's candidature further created a 2006 effect on minds of 'fence-sitters', as you call them.

I'll speak for myself, a staunch commie-critic but with my own political leanings. I was never a fan of VS, but my own Kanngress leaders and their actions in Delhi and here in Kerala forced me to back VS. I'm not unhappy that Congress is back in power but I hope both CPIM and Congress have learned their lessons well. Good governance is what we expect from our rulers; if they're able to do that then the previous 100-40 results will be a thing of the past.

As for 68-72, its fair. Lot of introspection for both parties to do. Who is the unhappy of the lot? Well, its your pick :)scorpiogeniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08071359354604682509noreply@blogger.com
