Should Pakistan and Afghanistan be part of Indian Union?

Do you feel good if Pakistan and Afghanistan became part of Indian Union?

I do not think any peace loving person will be excited about a union of Afghanistan and Pakistan with India. But there are people who carry such dreams of Akand Bharath even now. If he is just a dreamer we could ignore him.But he is one of the most politically powerful person of India who is now deciding who will be our Opposition Leader in Indian Parliament and may even decide our next Prime Minisiter. He is none other than the Rashtriya Swayam sevak Sangh Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Read the following excerpts from an interview Mohan Bhagwat gave to Prabhu Chawla in Aaj Tak channel.

Q. If I understand correctly, you still believe in Akhand Bharat and not in the two-nation theory.
A. It is all part of India. Pakistan is transitory and will become part of India sooner or later.

Q. What about Afghanistan?
A. Pakistan and Afghanistan are a part of us and will return one day.

Now I am sure the RSS Chief is dreaming of an Akand Bharath under a Hindutva [Saffron] flag.

Islamists in Pakistan also has similar dreams of uniting India and Afghanistan with Pakistan under an Islamist flag. Their agents in India, the now banned SIMI propagated the slogan 'India's liberation through Islam'.

Let us hope all these nightmares will remain as such, as far from reality as possible.

  1. If the RSS is for Hinduism, why would they want more Muslims in their country?

  2. Bones, They may like to turn the clock back by 1500 years to the pre-Islamic period.

  3. I fear there will some who will love this. And how do they say will the lives of Indian citizens be better if these dreams came true?

I wish we had strong campaigns against such methods of creating conflicts.

  5. I think we should thank our stars that Pak is not part of India. Leave alone the other countries!! Where would we be if Pak and India together? We know don't we! I think a negative force can at times be too strong to control and a virus can spread.

  6. There was a time when I used to think it would be so much fun if India and Pakistan were together. Aamir Sohail and Sachin would open, followed by Saeed Anwar and Dravid. And for bowling we would have Anil Kumble, Srinath, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq.

I also used to think how strong we could be if India and Pakistan were together! How much more peaceful and safe the world would be...

But then, I have come to realize that mankind is not ruled or shaped by the thoughts of the majority. We are led by ideals and prejudices propagated by a few individuals who cannot let go of their egos, doubts, traumas and horrors. Just like all great inventions, which are the creations of a few individuals, our future and destiny too are the creations of a few individuals. The rest, the majority, are just pawns in this game of chess which these individuals play.

I don't think the partition and the blood bath were what the majority wanted. And I don't think an "Akhand Bharat" is what any sensible person wants. But so much for freedom of expression and individuality!!

PS: Sorry for the long comment. This is what came to my mind when I read your post.

  7. Nita,I agree. Looking back I feel some sort of partition was inevitable due to the socio religious geography of undivided India. Looking ahead I feel it is not good for India or Pakistan to become one nation.

  8. Layman ,long comments are welcome. You mentioned the coming together of Cricketers. We can dream about that with comfort. But can you dream with comfort the coming together of our politicians say Bal Thakaray and Nawas Sherief.

'our future and destiny too are the creations of a few individuals'

I am not very sure abt that. I sometimes feel socio economic forces much more powerful than individuals shape our destiny. Individuals may be able to delay or accelerate the changes only.

  10. actually Bangladesh,Nepal and parts of some other countries are included in the Akanda Bharath concept of RSS.
It is worth discussing because it is being discussed in all Sakhas. We must not forget BJP is the main opposition Party.
